Use
The Leakcontrol tool detects and pinpoints small leaks (just a few liters/hour) in high-pressure pipelines carrying liquid hydrocarbons.
Technical Process
The Leakcontrol tool is based on the principle of acoustic measurement. It detects sounds caused by the sudden pressure reduction of a liquid. A leak in a pipeline transporting liquid under high pressure emits acoustic signals across a wide spectral band (1 to 100 kHz and higher). Equipped with a hydrophone, the tool detects, processes and records the acoustic signals.
Advantages
Pipeline operations are not interrupted during the inspection. No special installation is required to launch the Leakcontrol tool, except for standard tool stations at the ends of pipelines. Its small size and light weight design make it particularly easy to use. The pipeline integrity analysis is available a few hours after the tool is removed out of the pipeline. Runs can be integrated into pipeline maintenance and monitoring policies, as stipulated in the French decree of August 4, 2006.
